Search engine strategy basics: think outside the Google searchbox

Sometimes it seems we are all just Googling all of our information needs. Without looking any further to see if for a certain type of search question, it might be better to use something else (another search engine, a directory etc.). This is not a wise strategy.

Google Plus Ripples are here: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

It looks cool. Very cool. Google Plus Ripples visualizes how a post is shared and what the network effects are. There is an option to replay the visualization (makes me thing of Google Wave, where you could rewind a conversation), to see who the main influencers are, the chain lenght, and which languages the people who are sharing use. All very informative. And you can even share ripples.

Frictionless sharing and disabling your ''inner filter''. A homework assignment.

A very articulate Vic Gundrota accompanied by Sergey Brin at the Web2.0 summit. About half way through the interview Vic points out (one of) the difference(s) between Google Plus and Facebook (after its last iteration including the frictionless sharing). "There is a reason why every thought in your head does not come out of your mouth." and "A core attribute to be human is to curate."..
